Samantha Jones

Program Manager

Samantha Jones is the Program Manager for MIT GOV/LAB and the Compass Initiative. Previously, she taught as a lecturer in MIT’s Music and Theater Arts Section, at Northeastern University, and at Tufts University. She honed expertise in writing and strategic communication supporting graduate student writers for three years as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard’s Fellowships and Writing Center. Samantha also previously worked as an Investment Analyst at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. She earned her PhD in ethnomusicology from Harvard University, a Master’s in Music from Boston University, and Bachelor degrees in Music and Cognitive Science from the University of Connecticut. She currently volunteers as newsletter editor for the Noyes School of Rhythm (Portland, CT), as a member of the advisory board of the Ward Irish Music Archives (Milwaukee, WI), and as the chair of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Society for Ethnomusicology. Samantha teaches youth non-competitive Irish dancing for O’Riley Irish Dance.

    MIT GOV/Lab recently participated in a webinar on trust and public health during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2022 Ebola outbreak, hosted by the Cluster of Research Excellence (CoRE) for Preparedness and Response to Pandemics and Shocks.
