Building trust through messaging and new e-government services in Kenya
GOV/LAB Director Lily Tsai, Research Director Nuole (Lula) Chen, Research Affiliate Alisa Zomer, and former Technical Associate Nat Rabb are co-authors on a study of trust in e-government services in Kenya. The article finds no evidence of "trust transfer" from a trusted company to the government in a randomized survey experiment where subjects learned about a new online service portal delivered by either a firm, the government, or a firm/government partnership.

Building Trust in Government in a Digital World
A new study from Busara and MIT GOV/LAB in Kenya finds that a messaging strategy emphasizing private sector involvement could boost interest in public services in the short term, but could erode trust in government in the long term.
