Leonard is a Masters student at the MIT Media Lab and a Research Assistant with MIT GOV/LAB. He is also a social and ethical responsibilities of computing (SERC) scholar at MIT Schwarzman College of Computing.
Leonard’s primary research interests center on promoting innovation in the public and humanitarian sectors, specifically in the area of data engagement and ethics for communities in the global south. His master’s thesis is focused on developing a community-values-driven data engagement framework that prioritizes trustworthiness in humanitarian action.
Having a strong passion for public interest technology innovation, he has extensive experience working in Sierra Leone, West Africa. There, he collaborated across government agencies and civil society organizations to develop technology tools that promote e-government and open data.
